New Delhi, May 20 (IANS): Six men were arrested here for targeting several jewellers, including two Mumbai-based diamond merchants, police said Tuesday.

Harcharan Singh, 22, Satender Pal Singh, 24, Ravinder, 24, Harpreet Singh, 28, Ashok Kumar, 40, and Tarun Adhikari, 29, were arrested from the Karol Bagh area in central Delhi.

Police have recovered the looted diamond jewellery and Rs.20 lakh in cash from their possession.

May 14, two Mumbai-based diamond merchants travelling in a vehicle were intercepted by two of the robbers riding a motorcycle on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road area.

One of them broke the window pane of the vehicle and after assaulting the car occupants, at gun point they took away the bag containing jewellery and cash.

During interrogation, the arrested men revealed they also robbed several Delhi-based jewellers.

Police said a worker in a jeweller's shop, Dilip, provided information about the jewellers to Adhikari and Kumar.

They, in turn, passed on the news to Harcharan, who with his associates planned and executed the robbery.
