Puttur, Jul 4: The town police here are understood to have taken into custody one Ruqiya, hailing from Sullia, on suspicion of her intimacy with Sattar, who is suspected of having murdered Akshata last week.  Sattar has been absconding ever since the murder and some of his associates have been arrested by the police.

In all 13 persons, including Sattar's father Abbas, Abbu of Salmara, Praveen of Narimogaru and Ashraf from downtown Puttur, have been taken into custody by the police, who have formed four teams sent to different place to nab him.

Ruqiya was severely interrogated by the police to elicit information on the whereabouts of Sattar, who is said to have been regularly visiting her house in Sullia.

Police sources said there was a breakthrough in the investigations and expressed the hope that Sattar would be arrested soon.

A police team that rushed to Palltadka near Badiadka on suspicion of Sattar's hiding there, has returned empty-handed.

Arrest demanded

The Sayyed Male Juma Masjid Committee in Puttur has demanded the immediate arrest of Sattar, who is suspected to have murdered Akshata of Tarigudde, Chikkamudnur.

DK district Janata Dal youth president Umesh Kumar Rai has demanded immediate arrest of Sattar and others involved in the murder of Akshata.
