Moodbidri, May 25: The Mathrubhoomi Samrakshana Samithi welcomed the statement of the district incharge minister B Ramanath Rai regarding the withdrawal of Niddodi thermal power project by the state government.

"This statement of the minister should not just remain a statement, but should come true. CM Siddaramaiah himself should pass a statement and confirm the withdrawal of the project," urged the committee president Alphonsa D’Souza and the convener Kiran Manjanabail.

The committee said, "If the statement is true, then it is the outcome of the fights and protests carried out by the people of the district. The committee is to fight till the project is completely withdrawn and we will also see that the government has modified the project and found an alternative way."

Last time they were declaring that we will ensure the project is not uted etc etc and one fine day Siddaramiah d the foundation ceremony and it was held also. so, these ministers are just lying to keep both sides happy. So, now if the news is pakka, then it should be d by our the great ...one and only CM .. Siddaramiah. then only we can believe , yes we WON.

Why not the government think seriously about Solar energy. It keeps the environment clean and much safer for the people. Initially it may be costlier, but not as much as thermal. Also on the long run there will be saving as well as no health hazards.
