Gopal Shetty visits Kateel shrine

Mumbai, May 30: Gopal C Shetty, who emerged victorious in the LS elections, garnering a thumping majority from Mumbai North constituency took time to visit the Kateel Durga Parameshwari Shrine.  The Tulu-Kannadiga MP visited the temple on Thursday May 29.

He was accompanied by his wife Usha G Shetty and his supporters, Yermal Harish, Sharath Mulki, Purushotham Shetty Kinnigoli, Suresh Shetty and others. 


The MP was feted at the temple by the authorities K Vasudeva Astranna, K Lakshminarayana Astranna and brothers.  

Gopal basically hails from Upudi-Padubidri, Santooru of undivided Dakhina Kannada district. He started his political stint in 1980, with the Borivali unit of BJP offering him a stature of zonal secretary. He then contested for corporate elections in MCC (Mumbai City Corporation). Gopal also served as a corporator for four successive terms. He has served as the deputy mayor of Brahat Mumbai City Corporation. 

He was chosen as an MLA twice by the people of Borivali assembly constituency. In the recent LS elections he battled down Congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam with a huge margin of 4,46,582. This victory margin, however was second best after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
