Udupi, July 10: In the era of economic globalisation where human values are eroding, globalisation of human hearts and improving human relations has become all the more necessary, said Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Jagadguru Sri Madhwaachaarya Moola Samsthaanam Udupi Sri Puthige Math.

Addressing the world Summit of religious leaders in Moscow recently, the seer noted that different faiths, which should bring people together and establish peace are unfortunately leading to disturbances.


he summit was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin who emphasised the need for communal harmony.

The Puthige math seer, who is president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP) expressed appreciation of Putin’s efforts in opening up the country to the spiritual world and conducting conferences for world peace. 

The seer emphasised the need for global brotherhood and indicated that religious freedom in India is an example to be followed. This can be achieved only if there is mutual respect for human beings, he noted.



The three-day summit was held under the leadership of Allexy II, patriarch of Moscow, and conducted by the religious leader of Jerusalem, Archbishop Thiyophon. 

The summit was represented by Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic and other religious leaders from more than 80 countries. The summit discussed the latest developments in differnt parts of the world and resolutions were passed for future activities in achieving world peace.


As part of the summit, a charity musical concert was organised by the UNESCO World Children’s Choir, conducted by the charitable foundation World of Art.
