MANGALORE, July 10: Diploma holders can now upgrade their qualification by clearing the AMIE examination successfully.

This is an informal route of an acquiring an engineering degree in which students need not register themselves in any engineering college. He/she can enroll in the course simultaneously while working.

The completion of (section A and the Section B) examinations of the AMIE, in any branch of engineering, is considered equivalent to B E/B Tech and is also recognised at par with an engineering degree by Government of India, Government of Karnataka, AICTE and other bodies of authority.

The scheme and the syllabus for AMIE have been thoroughly revised to suit the present industrial scenario. Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Engineers’ Association and the Institution of Engineers (India), Mangalore Local Centre has been conducting joint coaching programmes in Mangalore since 2001.

A meeting has also been convened on July 16 at 10 am, on the 3rd floor of the PWD building at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore.
