  • Last time around, it was the officials' callousness
  • This time it is the missing railway pass

Mangalore, Jul 11:  Octogenarian freedom-fighter Janardan Prabhu, who missed the opportunity of having high tea with President APJ Kalam on the eve of India's Independence Day in 2005, may be deprived of a similar chance this year as well.

Could be unlucky once again?

Last year, he could not travel because he was not intimated of the cancellation of the train he was to travel by. His desperate requests to elected representatives that time to arrange for a flight ticket to Delhi too had fallen on deaf years.

Following wide coverage in the media, including Daijiworld.com, President Kalam had sought a probe into the circumstances in which Prabhu had missed the chance of travelling to Delhi. It was also ensured this time that arrangements would be made well in advance. He had given his consent to the Rashtrapati Bhavan staff to attend the tea meeting with the First Citizen of the country in August 2006.

Now with just a month left for the tete-a-tete, Prabhu has discovered that his first class railway pass no. 380/269 with his name and photograph has been missing.

His intimation to the railway divisional office, Mysore and the union railway minister regarding the loss of pass has elicited no response so far.

Not knowing what to do further, Prabhu has filed a complaint to the Moodbidri police station.

Anyone finding the above-mentioned pass is requested to send it to:
