Mumbai, Jun 2 (Mid-day) : 29-year-old woman was gang-raped at gunpoint in a car by two men at Bhayander after promising fresh employment that would pay her a salary of Rs 25,000 per month
Lured by the promise of a job, a 29-year-old woman was gang-raped at gunpoint in a car by two men at Bhayander last afternoon.
The women had been lured to the spot on the pretext of being offered a job that would pay her Rs 25,000 as salary every month. The survivor first registered a complaint at D N Nagar police station, after which the case was transferred to Navghar police station in Bhayander. Two men are wanted in the case.
According to the police, the incident took place near the Bhayander railway station, where the survivor had been summoned by the two accused. The woman is as nurse in a private hospital. PSI Shrikant Karande added that the woman was dissatisfied with her job as a nurse, and had been hunting for a new job.
On Thursday night, she got a call from one of the accused identified as Deepak. He said that a common friend had recommended her for a job opening in a private firm. He asked her to reach Bhayander on Friday afternoon, to fill out job-related documents.
Yesterday, the two accused were waiting in the car, wearing formals, and told the woman to step into the vehicle, saying they would drive her to the office. As soon as she was seated, they pointed a gun at her, to subdue her. Following this, they took turns to rape her, before pushing her out of the car and fleeing.
Without wasting any time, the survivor went to the D N Nagar police station to register a complaint. Later, the police transferred the case to Navghar police station in Bhayander, as the crime had been committed in their jurisdiction.
The woman was admitted to hospital, and later discharged. The cops have taken the phone numbers that the accused had used to contact the survivor. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 376, 377 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
