Mangalore, Jul 15: Once in a way, we come across stories of a python being captured in areas surrounded by forest. But something unbelievable happened in the middle of the city - in Kankanady, precisely - on Saturday, July 15 morning.

Hide-and-seek behind the foliage

Head or tail first?

A huge python - about 6 metres in length - according to eyewitnesses, was spotted under the foliage on the old Padil road. Immediately a group of enthusiastic citizens got their act together and made up their mind to capture it alive.

After some twists and turns...

...there you go into the bag

"Hey, wait, the dog's paws are still outside my mouth..."

By that time, it had devoured a live dog already from a nearby house. Nellu Permannur, a well-known theatre person and TV anchor, also joined the operation.

In about half an hour's time, it was captured in a jute bag, to be released inside the Pilikula Nature Park on the outskirts of the city.

Praveen Tauro of Daijiworld was on the spot to capture the action pics for our readers.
