New Delhi, June 10 (IANS): Scores of children studying in a play school here had a narrow escape when a major fire gutted a building adjacent to the school Tuesday afternoon, a fire service official said.
The building in which the fire broke out is situated near Shadipur metro station in Patel Nagar area of west Delhi. It houses some private offices.
"The incident happened at around 1 p.m. and was doused within three hours and thirty minutes,
"Fire fighters with 14 fire tenders reached the spot soon after getting the information and evacuated the place. The blaze caused loss of property estimated in lakhs of rupees, but no casualties were reported," the official added.
According to the official, children studying in a play school next door had a narrow escape.
"The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained," he said.
