Infant abducted from Gurgaon

Gurgaon, June 12 (IANS): A four-day-old baby boy was kidnapped here by an unknown woman, police said Thursday.

The parents of the infant live in Nathupur village here on Mehrauli border.

The mother delivered the baby at Safdurjung hospital in Delhi and the mother and child returned home Tuesday.

The accused introduced herself as Prem Verma, an employee of Safdurjung hospital -which he was not - and befriended the family. She came to their home saying she was sent from the hospital as the doctors felt the mother and child needed better care.

"After winning the confidence of the family she Wednesday managed to flee with the child," Naveen Kumar, chief of DLF-2 police station said.

"We have registered a case under sections 363 and 370 of Indian Penal Code," he said.

The newborn was the first child of the couple and his father worked here at a private company.
