Bhutan visit will remain etched in my memory: Modi

New Delhi, June 16 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who Monday returned from his two-day official visit to Bhutan - his first foreign visit after taking office - said that the trip would "remain etched" in his memory.

"Back to Delhi. This Bhutan trip will remain etched in my memory. It was a very satisfying & productive visit," Modi posted on his Facebook account which is followed by over 18 million people.

"Addressed Bhutan's Parliament. When Bhutan moves ahead, India too feels like taking steps ahead to support Bhutan. In a short span of time, Bhutan has developed immense faith in democratic institutions. This is wonderful for Bhutan's development journey," he said.

Modi praised Bhutan's "large allocation" for education and promised to double scholarships to Bhutanese students.

"Was happy to know about the large allocation for education in Bhutan's last budget. It shows commitment to well-being of future generations!"

"India plans to create an e-library network in Bhutan and we would double scholarships being given to students of Bhutan," he said in the message.
