Mangalore, Jul 24: In another attack on restaurants run in the city, a group of 8 miscreants stormed into Hotel Ashirwad at Kulshekar near here and damaged furniture, showcases in the restaurant on Monday July 24 afternoon.

The incident took place between 2.45 and 3.00 pm on Monday.  It has been alleged that the attack was carried out by a fanatic organization over the serving of certain dishes in the restaurant, according to police sources  The group smashed the furniture including tables and showcases with wooden clubs and iron rods.

However, while they were fleeing the place, the rickshaw drivers in the vicinity managed to get hold of one of them.  A rickshaw too is said to have been damaged in the incident.

Hotel Ashirwad restaurant is a sister concern of well-known Ashirwad Caterers of Madantyar near Beltangady owned by Vincent Frank.  It could be recalled that 4-5 restaurants have been damaged by alleged activists of some fanatic organizations in the last couple of months for serving some specific items. 

The aforementioned incident too seems have some likeness to the earlier ones.  However, nothing can be said exactly and no one cooule be pinpointed for the crime until the police carry out an enquiry. The details of the person apprehended has not been disclosed in the interest of inquiry.

The Kankanady police have registered a case in this regard.
