Haryana Police arrest two for Rs.80 lakh heist

Chandigarh, June 28 (IANS): Claiming to have cracked an over two-year-old case of looting of cash and jewellery worth Rs.80 lakh from a shop in Rohtak city, the Haryana Police Saturday said two persons were arrested in this connection.

A police spokesman said with the arrest of the two accused, Vicky and Rajaluhak, the Rohtak district police had solved the case in which cash and jewellery worth Rs.80 lakh were looted from a jeweller on Feb 7, 2012.

"The two accused revealed that five youths had conspired and executed the plan. They sold off the looted jewellery at different places, including Kolkata and Jodhpur," the spokesman said.

Jeweller Om Prakash had opened his shop at 7 a.m. when some masked men with weapons came and overpowered him. They took away Rs.5 lakh in cash and two kg of gold jewellery.
