New Delhi, Jul1 (Bhaskar News) : The decision taken by the incumbent government to bring about changes in the existing law to overturn ban on e-rickshaws, may have brought smiles on the faces of over one lakh operators in Delhi, but Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister, may have to provide answers to some very serious questions with this.
According to a report published in the English daily The Indian Express, “Purti Green Technologies (PGT) Private Limited, registered in 2011, is one of the companies of the Purti Group founded by Gadkari PGT is one of seven companies licensed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to manufacture and sell battery-run rickshaws in 2012. “
The director of the aforesaid company, Ashok alias Rajesh Totade, is brother-in-law to Gadkari.
IE further adds that in an interview with the newspaper, Ashok confirmed that his company is in wait for getting an exemption on motor wattage so that they can begin with the production of e-rickshaws.
It was only about 14 days back that Gadkari had announced about launching the “Deen Dayal scheme” which will entitle the prospect buyers to avail loan at 3 percent interest rate.
The operators at present carry out their trade without any regulation on either standards or safety parameters.
