Javadekar sends 40 officials home for arriving late to work

New Delhi, Jul 1 (Agencies) : Officials at the information and broadcasting ministry were in for a rude shock on Monday morning when minister Prakash Javadekar was seen waiting for them in the office corridor. The minister arrived at his Shastri Bhawan office at 9am, and instead of moving to his chamber, barged into the rooms of officers. Many were just about arriving, whom the minister received and mockingly guided to their chairs. He ordered all those who did not arrive in office by 9.15am to take a day's casual leave as mild punishment. Javadekar left strict instruction that the staff must maintain the decorum of the office and be in time, an I&B ministry press release said.

The late-comers then lined up outside his office. Around 40 people fell into this slacker's category.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his administration to prioritise efficiency by reducing delays and cutting red tape. It is an attempt to pull up government employees, who are known for working at a snail's pace making it near-impossible to get work done at government offices. The new government has ordered bureaucrats to focus on the swift disposal of files; civil servants have been warned they will be held responsible and penalised for delays in decision-making.

Earlier, PM Modi had himself inspected the chambers of his officers in the PMO early one morning to ensure that officials are present in office by 8:45am. This was followed by the urban development minister M. Venkiah Naidu inspecting his ministry at Nirman Bhawan. He had let off late-comers with a warning.

Apprecite the Minister but action is stupidity to the core.

    The reason is :

If our Minister is little bit exposed and smart, he would have introduced electronic punch card and also finger print attendance scanner which automatically enters one's attendance with time. This itself will force the staff to come in time.

We are much behind in introducing efficient method. We have to improve. After all prevention is better than cure.

I am into politics and like you I have lived in a foreign country and I am not ashamed to say that I have done many dirty jobs to get myself through. My experience doing these have thought me many things. I have learnt the importance of dignity of labour and above all, it has taught me humility. I don't know what job you do but I believe that a struggling tea seller has more hunger to succeed than someone who has born with a silver spoon up himself. Every human being in this world does contribute to the sustenance of this society. Without a cleaner or tea seller we can not survive.

Well done Javadekar. That's why there is a huge gap between Govt work and private work. Govt office, it has set a very bad remark as most corrupted and lazy depts. It's just because of the laziness of the ministers. Now if minister himself set the bench mark coming early, whole office staff will make it definitely. It started with Modi and now other ministers also following all the best possible measures to change the Governance. Well done. Don't worry about remarks, comments and all... here also I am seeing many commenting so many stupid things... ignore all those and continue doing the things with a change than earlier decade set up. We need change and I am sure this dynamic govt will bring a change. Of course the officials have felt the change and tomorrow whole givt will see the change. Irrespective of the comments received, please go ahead keeping up the good work. Well done.

All the central and state government offices should introduce Finger-print with Punch card system along with the CCTV at the entrance of the main gate. The government should make an attendance committee and it should be their responsibility to making a chart of the daily attendance with the time of their arrival at the gate. Those who fail to reach the office more than one time should take casual leave. Similarly their exit should be monitored.
All the government office should have a powerful and dynamic superintendent to check the work load of each officer and the progress in the end of the day. It is time to bring a change to this lazy world of government office and convert them into a clean, vibrant, efficient and honest government office.

3 or 4 late mark, should be deduct their half day Salary.
Even though the discipline is to be followed, coming on time does not necessarily mean good performance or governance.. Have targets , monitor performance, appreciate good work and reward the deserving..

Just like Grooms during 'First Night', 'Suhaag Raat' Yep!...Not knowing what to do...acting smart, strict ,etc. etc.
They take a little time to be groomed, these grooms.
Then room room- broom broom, all the grooms.
