Mangalore, Jul 2: The graduation day of Kalakul – Konkani’s lone theatre repertory was held on Monday June 30 at Kalaangann here.
Dr Edward Nazareth, professor of Orthopedics and well-known Konkani writer was the chief guest. Christopher D’Souza Neenasam, the chief trainer of Kalakul presented the annual report.
Dr Edward Nazareth honoured the outgoing trained artistes with diploma certificates. The certificates were given to 11 artistes who have successfully completed their theatre training in 2013-14 batch: Maria Joyce D’Souza, Neeshma D’Souza, Sandeep Tellies, Melwyn Pais, Malcon Rego, Hanley Coelho, Arun Jayson Tauro, Preetham Rodrigues, Rohan Lobo, Rivin Crasta and Venissa D’Cunha.

Chief guest Dr Edward Nazareth praised Kalakul for raising the standard of Konkani theatre. He also welcomed the new batch of 2014-15 by handing over the uniforms.
Arun Raj Rodrigues, the play writer and administrator of Kalakul gave the welcome address, compered the programme and expressed his gratitude to all who worked and supported for the success of Kalakul repertory. Louis Pinto, the president and Eric Ozario, the gurkar of Mandd Sobhann were also present on the dais.
This year, Kalakul repertory has produced four major plays, three street plays and has presented 55 shows including two national drama festivals.
