Narendra Modi now the third most 'followed' world leader on Twitter!

New Delhi, Jul 3 (Agencies) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday overtook the Indonesian President SB Yudhoyono in terms of number of followers to become the third most followed world leader on the social networking website.

At the time of filing of this story, the data shows that the Indian Prime Minister currently has 5,091,128 followers compared to Yudhoyono's 5,088,309.

This makes Modi the third most followed world leader on microblogging site — a list led comfortable by the US President Barack Obama and Pope Francis.

US President Barack Obama with 43,864,710 followers remains the most followed world leader on Twitter followed by Pope Francis whose 9 Twitter accounts in different languages have a combined 14 million followers.

Earlier, Modi had skyrocketed to the fourth place, leaving behind US' White House, Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the sixth and seventh place, respectively.

Also, at the time of General Elections 2014 results on May 16, Modi's 'Ache Din Aane Waale Hain' tweet created a record as it was retweeted 39,742 times and favourited 21,691 times that day, and currently it has been retweeted and favourited over 70,000 and 46,000 times, respectively.

Twitter India had then also confirmed saying, "Yes, it is the most retweeted tweet till date on Twitter from India. Also, it is the fastest to reach 10,000, 20,000, 40,000 and 50,000, respectively".

Indian-origin Internet Karsevaks, are a dime a dozen...like 'boothiy' (sardines).

Many of those NRIs (gujjus especially) who have settled abroad, might follow Modi on twitter, but will never, ever permanently settle in India, even if modi becomes the most powerful "teaboy" in the world....) And that is why they are called internet karsevaks (which is even lesser value than paper tigers)...

pop. of Indonesia: 247 million = 5088309/24700000 = 0.2% of Indonesians follow Indonesian PM on twitter
pop. of India: 1.24 billion 5091128/124000000 = 0.041% of Indians follow modi on twitter
The difference in percentage jump from 4th to 3rd is 5 times.

    pop. of USA: 314 million = 43864710/31400000 = 1.4% on twitter

MOdi was street smart and spoke the language of the street. Will not be smart enough to bring the prices down as speaking and walking the talk is different.

Its is a proof that Khans , had voted for bjp because of miss deeds Khangress increase prices and scams .

Hats off to you PM Modi for creating many records after records! Sorry state of affairs for the people of India. No relief from price rise! Still our PM is getting too much publicity for these useless things! Advertisement is a powerful tool which is being used by him and his corporate supporters. Since he has a very solid majority and no concrete opposition, these things will go on for ever until and unless the people of this great nation come to their senses. Let us hope for the best!
