Belthangady, Jul 4: A delegation of Karnataka People Awareness Forum decided to meet minister of excise Sathish Jarakihole and request him not to issue any more wine shop licenses. It is said that there are more than 9,000 wine shops and more than 400 MSIL liquor shops in the state.
The excise minister said that MSIL malls would be started in order to stop the illicit sale of liquor.
The People Awareness Forum stated that if the government permitted more liquor shops instead of stopping the sale of liquor, poor people and farmers would be on the streets.
It is said that the delegation will soon meet the chief minister and the excise minister in this regard.
"The All Karnataka People Awareness Forum has been functioning for the last three decades under the leadership of dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and is fighting against addiction," said state
president, Devadas Hebbar.
Secretary Vivek V Pais and founder president Vasanth Salian were present.
