Chinese woman in suicide bid as husband rejects dancing

Beijing, July 8 (IANS): A Chinese woman tried to kill herself after her husband turned down her invitation to a group square dance.

The 53-year-old woman underwent emergency treatment after she consumed insecticide mixed with alcohol, the Global Times reported Monday.

Public square dancing is a form of group exercise popular among the middle-aged and elderly in China.

Her husband called rescuers after finding her lying on the floor foaming at the mouth.

According to the police, the woman called her daughter and said that she did not want to live anymore.

Her husband said that he knew that she wanted to take up group square dance as a hobby.
