Bantwal, Jul 11: The Vittal police on Thursday July 10 intercepted a mini truck in which cattle were being transported illegally, and arrested a person.

They also confiscated four cows and the mini truck in which these cattle were being transported.

The accused is Salethur Basheer (30), son of notorious cattle trade middleman named Monu Beary from Panjarakody Kattattila near Salethur in the taluk.

Bajrang Dal activists from Salethur had tipped off Vittal police about the fact that stolen cattle from places located on the other side of the Ghat region were being brought into the district in three vehicles on Thursday July 10 morning.

Vittal police sub-inspector, T R Gaghavendra and other staff arrived at the spot, intercepted the mini truck, and arrested Basheer. The police said that the other cattle thieves succeeded in escaping.
