Choppy waters ahead, Odisha fishermen warned

Bhubaneswar, July 11 (IANS): Fishermen in Odisha were Friday warned against venturing into the sea as gusty winds and a rough sea would prevail along the state's coast, an official said here.

A low pressure area has been formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre official said.

"As a result, gusty winds with a speed of 35-45 km per hour are likely to prevail along and off the state's coast," he told IANS.

The state's fishermen have been advised to remain cautious while venturing into the sea, he added.

Rain and thundershowers may occur at many places in the state during the next two days, he said.

The intensity of the rainfall may gradually increase and some places in south Odisha may witness heavy rainfall during this period, the weatherman said.
