Fire in Ghaziabad building, six cars gutted

Ghaziabad, July 11 (IANS): A fire broke out in the basement of an apartment building here Friday, officials said. No casualties were reported.

The fire broke out around 2.00 p.m. in the basement of ATS Apartments building in Indirapuram area and six parked cars were burnt, a fire official said.

Ghaziabad's chief fire officer A.P. Singh said prima facie it appeared that an electrical short circuiting could have caused the fire.

Sixteen fire brigade tenders from Noida, Sahibabad and Ghaziabad took around six hours to douse the fire, he said.

"Police are waiting any complainant to come. If no private complainant comes, police will initiate legal action on their own," said police officer Rashid Ali.
