Daegu, (South Korea) July 13 (IANS): After Busan and Incheon, Daegu hosted the third Indian Film Festival of the year in South Korea and films like “Kahaani” and “Vicky Donor” were showcased at the fest, which ends Sunday.
Five Indian films with Korean subtitles were selected for the event, which was inaugurated by Sujoy Ghosh-directed women-centric thriller “Kahaani” that saw Vidya Balan in one of her best roles.
“Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, a biopic on athelete Milkha Singh, and romantic dramas “Raanjhana” "Ram-Leela" were also part of the four-day fest.
Lee Kyun Dong, vice mayor ambassador of Daegu, is confident that the festival would help bring the people of Daegu and India closer, said a statement.
Organised by the embassy of India and the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) in association with the Daegu Metropolitan City Government, it started July 10 at the Daegu media centre, with the support of the Department of Indian Films, Indian Tourism Organisation, EROS International India and a host of other organisations.
Neeharika Singh, director of ICC, thanked the metropolitan government for its generous support. She hoped that the festival would become an annual event and will deepen people-to-people exchanges.
