New Delhi, Jul 14 (Agencies) : Rajya Sabha was adjourned till noon on Monday after uproar over reports of Indian journalist Ved Prasad Vaidik meeting JuD chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed
Vaidik, Baba Ramdev’s close aide, sparked off a major controversy after his pictures with Saeed emerged on the social media. The photograph shows Vaidik engrossed in a deep conversation with Saeed.
Vaidik later played down his meeting saying that he also met Nawaz Sharif and many other leaders from Pakistan. He also said that he met Saeed as a journalist and nothing more should be read out of read into his meeting with the 26/11 attacker.
The images that are doing rounds on the social networks are likely to put the yoga guru Baba Ramdev in an embarrassing spot.
Early on July 12, Saeed had addressed a seminar at the Lahore High Court spewing venom on India and America.
This was the second time that Saeed, who is the founder of banned terror organisation Tightening its noose around the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the US had last month added its affiliates, including the JuD to its list of designated terror organisations and slapped sanctions against two Pakistan-based LeT leaders.
The US State Department has amended Lashkar-e-Taiba's designations to add its aliases: Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Al-Anfal Trust, Tehrik-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool and Tehrik-e-Tahafuz Qibla Awwal, an official statement had said.
