Ghaziabad house looted at gun-point

Ghaziabad, July 14 (IANS): A gang of robbers Monday looted cash, jewellery and mobile phones at gun-point from the house of a trader in Ghaziabad, police said.

Police said 45-year-old auto-parts dealer Anand Verma informed them that eight robbers barged into his house in Indirapuri area of Loni around 12.30 p.m.

Verma told police some men knocked on his door, and when his 42-year-old wife Rajni opened it, two men barged inside.

They took his wife hostage and allowed the other men to come in.

The robbers tied the hands of Verma, his wife and his 15-year-old daughter Rani behind their backs, and took away Rs.29,700 in cash, a gold necklace, a ring and two mobile phones.

They surprisingly returned the SIM card of the daughter's phone.

Superintendent of Police Jagdish Sharma, however, said a case would be registered only if the incident "proves to be true after primary investigation".
