Bangalore, Aug 11: Six top teams in the country will vie for top honours in the three-day Fair and Lovely Menz Active Twenty20 Cricket Tournament for Bradman Cup to be held at KSCA stadium here from Friday.
Many of the top cricketers, who could not find a place in Team India bound for Sri Lanka for the tri-series would be seen in action in the tournament to be played on round robin league format in which top two teams would clash in the final.
The participating teams are Chemplast, KSCA, Air India, Indian Airlines, ONGC and Bradman XI.
Briefing newspersons about the second edition of the tournament, KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel said the Association had signed a five-year contract with Doordarshan for live telecast and the tournament was the first to be organised in the country in the twenty20 format, for which the BCCI had accorded official status recently.
This tournament would help top players to hone their skills in the shortest version of the game in the wake of the BCCI agreeing to send the national team for the first Twenty-20 World Cup to be held in South Africa next year.
The last edition of the tournament had been a big success and players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina had got recognition after playing in this tournament. Some of the Australian state teams like Victoria and Western Australia had evinced interest and might come to play in this tournament next year, he added.
