Mangalore, Aug 12: While everybody woke up to see the bright sun on Saturday August 12 morning, Shivram Baliga and his family members of Mannagudda woke up to see fire flames consuming their house.  A sudden fire that broke out at "Rama Mandira", house of Corporation bank employee Shivram Baliga of Mannagudda engulfed the entire house and even injured Shivram.

Shivram is a bachelor and has been living in the house with his two sisters Sheela Baliga and Revati Baliga.  On Saturday morning, they had not even got up from their bed, when fire broke out possibly caused by a short circuit.  Though they tried to extinguish the fire, the efforts went in vain.  The fire brigade was summoned.  However, by the time fire brigade arrived, the house had been gutted completely.

Meanwhile, Shivram, who tried to extinguish the fire, sustained burn injuries and is now admitted to a hospital in the city.  The entire house has been reduced to ashes with only walls standing intact.  Though the loss has not yet been estimated, it is said that it may amount to several lacs since all the valuables in the house have been charred and none of them are in a condition to use.

The gas cylinder in the kitchen too exploded as a result of the heat generated by the fire.  Since there were no other houses in the close vicinity, a major disaster is averted.  The entire family is almost on streets with no proper house to live in.

The Barke police have registered a case in this regard.
