Indian soldier dies in Pakistan firing

Jammu, July 22 (IANS): An Indian soldier was killed Tuesday when Pakistani troops fired at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the military said.

Military spokesman Col Manish Mehta told IANS here that the Pakistan Army used automatics and small-calibre weapons in Pallanwalla area of Akhnoor sector.

"The firing was intended to facilitate the infiltration of militants into our side of the LoC," he said. "The infiltration attempt has been foiled but searches are still going on in the area."

Police sources told IANS that the dead soldier was from 3 Naga regiment and that two other soldiers were wounded.

"The Indian Army retaliated to the Pakistan firing. The firing has now stopped," a senior police officer told IANS.

The Indian Army guards the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir while the Border Security Force (BSF) is deployed along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley told parliament that the army had been giving "befitting reply" to ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

"India will keep retaliating to such violations," he told the Rajya Sabha.
"India won't and will never bow down."

Jaitley said 199 cases of violations of the 2003 ceasefire took place during the Congress-led UPA-II regime (2009-14).

The minister said the government was ready to provide compensation to people in villages near the LoC if their houses were damaged in the firing by Pakistanis.

"The government will also provide financial assistance to the farmers who are unable to (farm) following cross border firing."

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said Pakistan had violated the ceasefire along the Jammu and Kashmir border 25 times since Narendra Modi became the prime minister in May this year.

Suppose if it is UPA government time then:

1.Rajesh shetty would have come up with sharp comment.
2.Lingappa would have blamed Rahul vinci for this
3.Dinesh Poojary would have blamed Congi and spit venom by appeasement politics.
4.Sudhakar would have advised by trying to hide his ideology.

    and many more.....

'Chup'endra Modi is as silent as a mouse now. Before elections, he was screaming on top of his voice and showing off his "56 inch Chest". He assured us that he will retaliate if attacked.

Sigh! Now as a P.M, he appears to be a hero of a flop Silent movie....looks like he is planning to gift sarees to the moms of paki soldiers.

Now, who is 'spineless' Mr. P.M???

Thank god you are not our PM, retaliation would be effective if Pakistan had concern for their countrymen, they are irrational people and we will lose our dear indian brothers if we retaliate which we don't want to happen.

25 violations in a period of 2 months and two jawans killed and Mr. Jetley says they will not bow down their head, but he forgot that while in the opposition they said UPA was weak and BJP would capture Pakistan and erase it from the map, if violations continue. Even NDA member Shiv Sena is very unhappy about the Modi Govt keeping quiet and told in the parliament that we should kill 10 Pakistani soldiers, if our one soldier is killed. We never expected from a party who said Modi is a lion. Modi had said that he would avenge for the beheading of the soldier. Instead, he invited Nawab Sherif and also no action for Vaidik who said to Saeed, he would like a combined azadi Kashmir with permission from both govts when India says both Kashmirs are integral part of India.

    Santhanam,
10 pakisthani soldiers would be killed if one Indian soldier is killed was the election gimmick.

When in power sarees to 10 soldiers mothers of the enemy country for killing one Indian soldier. This is the way of having friendly relations with the neighboring countries.Had the Congress Govt done this the feku followers would have said this is done by the Italian Govt to appease the minorities. How well the name 'FEKU' suits.

Pakistan is that rogue country, which has made its living by troubling others! Nawaz Sharif has no hold over ISI or his army!! Hafiz and rest of the scoundrels are still roaming freely in streets! .... Most of this is British contribution.. they left India with Pakistan & Kashmir issue... similar to Israel with Gaza...

Modi should give a fitting answer!! give a chance to Naga/Gorkha Regiment and Maratha Regiment! .... they will do wonders.. So much that, Palestinian sympathisers will direct their energy at Human rights in pakistan side...
