Dubai, August 24: It's again the festivity mood, with hardly two weeks away from yet another Nativity feast,  Mangalorean Catholics spread worldwide have started to plan the celebration.

In the Gulf the traditional feast is being celebrated every year with great gaiety and pomp as everyone gets a homely feeling when they celebrate away from home. There are estimated 50-60 regional and community organizations of Mangaloreans functioning outside India. About 90% of them celebate the feast regularly.

"It is a great opportunity to meet the dear and near ones from our native places. That is how we feel the atmosphere of the 'Nativity'  feast being celebrated back home. Of course this is very important for us because this is dedicated to Mother Mary and it is her birthday," says a reader while sending the news of their celebration schedule to daijiworld

It can be recalled here in the year 2001 the Bishop of Mangalore visited the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman and many had the opportunity to celebrate the feast in his presence. Similarly the Bishop visited Doha and Kuwait in the year 2004 where thousands of people joined him in the celebration.

"This feast gives us a special feeling. Though Easter and Christmas are of greater importance, here in the Gulf, the Nativity feast is celebrated with equal joy and fervour, " says another reader of daijiworld

"The speciality of the feast back home is to share the new corn grown. We make every effort to bring the new corn here and share it with each other and consume. 'Novem' is the traditional occasion  and we want to celebrate this with devotion"

Following organizations have already announced their schedule. And those who want to publish their schedule, please write to us with limited details such as date, venue, time and contact numbers to our email ID:  news@daijiworld.net
