Mangalore, Aug 17: Makkala Dhwani, a two-day children's literary meet, will be organized by the Dakshina Kannada district Makkala Sahitya Sangama on Saturday August 19 and Sunday August 20 at JNR Kalamandir, Byndoor near Kundapur in Udupi. This will be the 13th Makkala Dhwani organized by the association.

Speaking at a press conference, undivided DK Zilla Sahitya Sangama honorary president Harikrishna Punaroor informed that Manjyoth, a ninth standard student of Sandeepan English medium school, Kambadakone, will preside. Byndoor MLA K Gopala Poojary will inaugurate the programme.

'Cheluvina Hoomale' a book by Kavya Shree Kulamava, a ninth standard student from Kumbla, will be released on the occasion by Harikrishna Punaroor.

The chief guests will be Udupi district ZP member Raju Poojary, DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and Kundapur BEO Ram Mogera.

Along with various competitions for children, a poetry session for the children will be held, presided over by Chaya Bhat of Kota Viveka Pre-university College. A Kathagoshti will follow where students will read out stories written by them. Sowmya D of Byndoor pre-university college will preside.

The valedictory programme, to be held on Sunday, will be presided over by K Lakshmi Narayana. Veteran writer Balamadhura Kanana, litterateur Sudhakara P Byndoor, B Narayana Rao of Prajna Developers, Bangalore, award-winning writer Neelavara Surendra Adiga and children who have authored books will be felicitated on the occasion.
