Tihar Jail spokesperson removed


New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS): Sunil Gupta, spokesperson of the Tihar Jail since 1996, has been removed from his post here, a government statement said Tuesday.

Deputy Inspector General (prisons) Mukesh Prasad has been appointed the new public relations officer (prisons).

Special Secretary (Home) G.L. Meena announced that the order to appoint Prasad has been issued by the government.

Though the official statement did not specify the reason behind Gupta's removal, the sources IANS talked to attributed the government decision to his face-off with a section in government administration.
