Eram Scientific to design next generation e-Toilets

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7 (IANS): US-based ideo.org, known for its human-centered designs, is collaborating with Eram Scientific Solutions for designing next generation e-Toilets.

Eram Scientific, based here, is the country's first e-Toilet manufacturer.

Ideo.org is part of well-known Ideo, the designer of Apple's first mouse, Microsoft's second mouse and Steelcase's Leap chair.

e-Toilet is the country's first unmanned toilet, integrated with sensor-based technology which has self-cleaning and water conservation mechanisms.

These e-Toilets are remotely monitored over a GPRS network and put up in over 500 locations in 10 Indian states.

It has won over 32 awards and recognitions world-wide.

The 'kick off' meeting was held at San Francisco on July 25 and the MoU for this was signed between Anvar Sadath, CEO of Eram Scientific Solutions, and Jocelyn Wyatt, executive director of ideo.org.

This collaboration for developing technology-assisted affordable sanitation is supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Sadath told IANS that the primary aim of this design engagement is to develop and enhance the pro-user interfaces while optimizing space and ensuring cost affordability.
