Mangalore, Aug 27: Mulki Lions Club president Duggappa Madivala (53) died in a tragic road accident on the Karnad bypass of the national highway 17 around 12-45 pm on Saturday.
He was riding his scooter from Karnad to Mulki. It skidded and hit a stationary tempo parked on the road side. Thrown on the road with the impact of the collision, he got severely injured in the back of his head. He reportedly breathed his last while being rushed to the hospital.
He was working as chief librarian in the Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore and had lost his mother only five days earlier and hence was on leave. He had been installed as Mulki Lions president as lately as July 3.
He is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.
