Mangalore, Aug 28: By working together, the planet of Earth can be rebuilt and dreams can come true.

This was the message that was conveyed at a programme held in the Lourdes Central School here, wherein the beauty of Green Planet, abounding in fruits, vegetables and herbs, was highlighted by way of charts.

Competitions were organized where Class I observed a festive nature’s delight where students animated the fruits, flowers and vegetables, they spoke how these delights play a vital role for a healthy and complete growth. 

Class II dealt on Nature talks on the Endangered species.  The cityscape drawings by Class III of the Mangalore city was a feast to everybody's eyes.  The creative ideas and talents of Class IV were presented through posters and photographs on how to be environment-friendly.  Class V put up a creative exhibition involving wealth out of waste to promote the theme of a cleaner, greener planet.

Kudos to the show managers of the day’s programme, comperes Antonio Vian Noronha and Dale Menezes of Class V, Sanshika Murali who presented the welcome address, Merula Pinto who gave the project report and Prasamsha Bhandary of Class IV who proposed the vote of thanks.  They worked together to bring out a beautiful show.

Chief guest Fr Ravi Santosh Kamath stressed the importance of students taking keen interest in gardening.  He appreciated the good works done by the school in creating awareness on the environment.  Principal Grace Noronha presented a Bonsai Mango plant to the chief guest as a token. 

The winners of each section walked off with a sapling as prizes, which were presented for their classwise competition.  The classes that did not match the points of the judges were also aptly crowned for their meticulous efforts.

Project in-charge Teresa Monteiro, Shanthi Menezes, Noeleen Pais and Lavina Serrao worked hand in hand to make the project a success.  The project song written by Shanthi Menezes and set to music by Ivan Mascarenhas was on the lips of every Lourdite.
