Mumbai, Aug 15: Karan Johar has rubbished the reports of playing Alia's father in her next film 'Shandaar'. Recently there were reports that Vikas Bahl has approached Karan to play Alia's father after Govinda walked out of the film due to remuneration problem.

"No, I am not doing the film. I was briefly in talks at a very initial stage. I am sure when the cast of Vikas's film is announced, it will be a terrific one, but I am not part of it," Karan said.

Karan Johar considers Alia Bhatt as his own daughter. She was launched by him in 'Students of the Year' in 2012 . Karan also recently made his acting debut in 'Bombay Velvet' which has Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in the last week of November.

'Shandaar' is directed by Vikas Bahl of 'Queen' fame. The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The film is expected to release early next year.
