I-Day: HNY team decodes freedom

Mumbai, Aug 15 (IANS): Freedom is interpreted differently by the cast and crew of forthcoming Bollywood potboiler "Happy New Year" (HNY) - for some it is about "freedom of expression", while others say when society will understand its "responsibility", we will be free.

On the eve of Independence Day Thursday, the entire team got together for the trailer launch of "Happy New Year", which has a patriotic element in the form of "Indiawale". And at the event some of them spoke about what freedom means to them.

Composer Shekhar Ravjiani said: "We will feel free when we will respect women and there will be no division on the basis of religion."

For his partner Vishal Dadlani freedom is equivalent to a "sense of responsibility."

Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone feel that one feels free when one is allowed to be oneself.

"Freedom means do what you want to do and live your life on your terms and conditions," said Abhishek.

Deepika said: "Just being able to express yourself without worrying about anything is freedom."

Senior actor Jackie Shroff feels that people should create space for the freedom fighters who fought to make the country free.

"Respect freedom fighters… create space for them in your mind," he said.

For young actor Vivaan Shah, freedom means being yourself and as an actor he feels free when it is "pack up" time on the sets.
