Kundapur, Sep 4: For the third successive day, the overloaded ore-laden trucks were stopped from entering the district at Ottinene near Byndoor here on Sunday September 3.

Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat is leading the protest and is at Ottinene for the last 3 days. He has said that unless weigh-bridge is established, he would not back out. But there are no signs indicating that weigh bridge would soon be established. So it is a tussle between the MLA and the district administration.

This means that drivers and cleaners of more than 75 lorries which are held at Ottinene would have tough time in the coming days.  Meanwhile a group of lorry owners held discussion with the MLA and asked him to release the trucks.  They tried to convince him that they had come with labourers to start weigh bridge work.  However, the MLA stuck on to his demand and said that he would not move till the weigh bridge is established.
