Gujarat govt given 4 weeks to explain why children swim to school

New Delhi, Aug 20 (NDTV): The Gujarat government has been asked to explain in four weeks why nearly 100 children are forced to swim a river every day to get to school.

The explanation has been sought by the National Human Rights Commission which cited media reports on the children.

The rights group said that the children's right to education and safety are being violated.

Last month, NDTV and other media reported that the children from a cluster of tribal villages in Central Gujarat Plunge every morning into a river, holding onto brass pots, to get to the other side, where the only school in the region is located.

By road, the school is 20 kilometres away in the Chhota Udepur district. Parents take turns supervising the children's swim.

Villagers have been demanding that a bridge be constructed.

I saw the video on You tube and feel sad for the little children who have to sit in class the entire day with wet clothes. Agreed Modi is a FEKU and fooled the entire nation but what is the fault of these little kids. Let us all contribute small amounts and buy these villagers a small boat so that these small children need not suffer sitting with wet clothes in school. We have heard grandfather stories about how they walked miles bare foot to reach school, but I am sure if they were to hear this story they will definitely say they had Acche Din …

Your idea of contributing to a boat is welcome, but, Anandiben is having a 100 crore helicopter. If she is eating butter and giving her people utter putter in the name of butter, it is not development. It is cheating. Our Army has an expertise that they are able to build a walking suspension bridge in 5-6 days (never compare with Yale degree) in a few lakh rupees. The Gujarat govt has no intention.

Gujarath is one of the least developed in terms of EDUCATION.Modi does not want his GUJRATHI people to be educated, ask him how many engineering/medical colleges are available in Gujarath. Most of the educated youth are very bad in English .You know why is this, he wants majority of gujrathis to be at this state itself, as they will work in the factories of GUJRATH, and they are forced not to think beyond and be contended with what they earn.Only big corporates children afford to go to outside state colleges. He wants them to be ta this state itself.
Biggest proof is why there are no IT companies in Gujarath? even in Kolkata you have them.

    Education will liberate the masses.

Those ungrateful politicians throwing trash at the minority Christian community of India never realize, how the foreign missionaries have lifted the standard of living all across India through bringing education. Who started the Universities of India in Bombay-Calcutta-Chennai etc? The first college of India is the CMS college in Kottayam, Kerala. I heard when I was in high school, people used to say that some 60 years ago, school children to our school had to cross a river (now there is bridge), but, there was free boat service for school children Compare our Mangalore of 1954 to this incident of 2014 ! Parents were not coming to see near the river while children had to go by boat. I have earlier also seen this Gujarat incident in BBC and there are no boats, forget about free service for school children. Here, parents come near the river and only seeing that the children have swam safely, they go home. It is quite a distance they have to swim. This is the case in some parts of my country in 2014!

And this is Gujarat Model of Education:

The following are the qualified text books of BJP government in GUJARAT UNDER CHAAIWAALA CHIEF MINISTER.
"Japan d r o p p e d a nuclear bomb on US during World War 2", "Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on October 30, 1948" - these are just two of the many factual errors in textbooks published by the Gujarat government for state-run schools.

This is not where these textbooks, meant for Classes 6 to 8 and published by Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT), stop. They go on to say, "Bal Gangadhar Tilak brought out an English newspaper called the Marathi", "Proportion of poisonous gas CO3 has increased due to cutting of trees" and "The neighbouring Pakistan is an Islamic Islamabad Nation".

The class 8 social science textbook, in particular, has over 120 factual, spelling and grammatical mistakes.

The students and their parents have been left fuming.(copied from web)

    Following is my assertion:

Concerning to Women we have seen Feku and Daaku were snooping women.

And HRD minister is Smriti Irani who was graduated from Yale/Yelle/tomorrow University degree.

The fate of our children and students lie in these fundoo Chaddi faku chaaiwaala Government.

    Just a simple question:

When you are treveling to any job imagine the bridge breaks on the way and you need to cross it.

Can your all 5 and sixth sense will ask you to swim (even though you know how to swim)?

When so many children need to swim, defintely some boat person will cometehere for the help (of course not for free). That too in Gujarat, definitely charge Rs. 10/- per head and made Rs. 1000/- in few hours...

Always try to empathise the situation and that will give you lots of awareness..

I see it as a pure drama as going to school by swimming is never called for...

So, even at this developed age of bridges and roads, keeping the children swimming like the olden days might have given a divine revelation to Mr. Modi that they are going to be Prime Ministers of India so that the State of Gujarat can be INDIA.

    Simple thing...
If there is no bridge, people go by boat...
Otherwise they become absent to school...
If someone swims, that means it is definitely a drama...
After swimming, they go to school in wet cloths?
Anyone with common sense will understand this is drama by congress...

If you want to stray cases and slam anyone, you will not be appreciated. Rather you will be called a sadist.

I am surprised that if there is no bridge, there can be always boats for commuting. But there was romour that local Congress MLA Mohansinh Chhotubhai purposefully made this drama to defame BJP government.

Now I understand what Modi meant by saying joining rivers. He wants the population to swim every day.
Can you imagine a state ruled by Modi for more than 10 years could not make bridge to make the distance shorter by 20km and we are blindly expecting this PM to take us a ahead of china and other developed countries.
I really appreciate the courage and initiative taken by the TV media to expose such a shameful incident in Indian history.
The people voted made a blunder and all my hopes on this majority government shattered after I see the video clip.
I did not vote this government but had lot of hopes after seeing 333 numbers.

I do not endorse that congress could have made the bridge before this video clip published but all these days we were shown about Gujarath model,Gujarath development and Gujarath infrastructure and now this video clip for appx of 100 children that means how many men and women would be using this passage every day?

Gujarat govt given 4 weeks to explain why children swim to school?
    A valid question.
The reason is, Our present PM who was CM of Gujarat for a decade forgot to construct a bridge in that area. His Vikaas program did not reach there.
