Kundapur, Sep 5: Fr Pius Fernandes who hails from the town and is rendering his services as principal of The Nobili School at Dhanbad in Jharkhand has bagged the national-level best teacher award.
Fr Pius is the son of the late Rosario Fernandes and Dulcine Fernandes of Kundapur. While Rosario Fernandes was the headmaster of the school, Dulcine too had rendered services as teacher. Fr Pius did his early education at St Mary's School here and completed his further education from St Aloysius College at Mangalore.
Fr Pius was also the principal of the prestigious Loyola School situated at Jamshedpur in Bihar for 12 long years. He has been chosen for the national-level best teacher award for his committed and selfless service in imparting education.
The award will be presented at a glittering ceremony to be held in Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday September 5.
