Mangalore, Sep 6: The city has relatively good infrastructure for the growth of information technology and knowledge-based industries.
A study done by Gartner, an international research agency, and one conducted by Infosys expressed similar views, Naren Koduvattat, vice-president and head (Energy, Utilities and Resources), Infosys Technologies Limited, Mangalore, said here on Monday.
He was speaking at "Pragati" a symposium on changing business horizons in coastal Karnataka organised by Aloysius Institute of Business Administration, St. Aloysius College.
Speaking on the topic "is Mangalore's infrastructure prepared for growth'' Mr. Koduvattat said that Gartner conducted the study in March, 2005 and Infosys did its study (Infosys Internal Assessment) in July, 2006.
The study done by Gartner has placed Mangalore amongst tier-two cities poised for further growth.
Mr. Koduvattat, who is member of the governing council of Infosys, said that not much effort had been made at the international level to showcase the city as the right place for investment.
