KARACHI, Sep 7: The International Cricket Council is closely monitoring the statements and columns of Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq and has even obtained services of an Urdu language translator for the purpose.

ICC had issued a stern warning to Inzamam, the team management and the Board on Monday, asking them to refrain from making any "inappropriate" comments on incidents related to the controversial Oval Test.

A source in the PCB said ICC had been monitoring the columns of Inzamam in Pakistan's largest circulated Urdu daily, 'Jang'.

"Inzamam has now been told to be careful about what he writes in his column as it is available to the ICC. He has been advised to just stick to non-controversial cricket matters," the source said.

In a recent column, Inzamam had said Darrell Hair, the Australian umpire in the centre of the ball-tampering row, was in big trouble as he had tried to involve his team in a controversy by making false allegations.

The Pakistan skipper had also indirectly hit out at the ICC and said his team did not want to play the one-day series in the wake of the Oval fiasco. PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan has also made some strong statements on the issue in recent weeks.

Inzamam is now due to attend a disciplinary hearing of the ICC on September 28 and this date has been confirmed to the PCB, the source stated.

He faces charges of ball-tampering and bringing the game into disrepute after the Pakistan team refused to carry on playing after tea on the fourth day of the final test against England at the Oval which was eventually awarded to the home side by Hair and fellow umpire Billy Doctrove.

The source also said the situation in the Pakistan camp was not very comfortable after the third one-dayer on Tuesday in which fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was caught on camera fiddling with the ball while walking back to his run-up.

The source said the PCB was now worried and had scheduled a meeting of its ad-hoc committee in Karachi on Sept 12 to chalk out a future line of action if the ICC decides to get tough with Pakistan on this issue.

 "The Chairman is flying straight to Karachi on the 11th for the meeting at which other captaincy options could be discussed if Inzamam is pulled up by the ICC before the Champions Trophy in India next month," the source said.
