Shimla to hold classical music fest


Shimla, Sep 14 (IANA): A five-day Shimla Classical Music Festival will be held at historic Gaiety Theatre in collaboration with the Punjabi Academy in Delhi, an official said here Sunday.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh would inaugurate the fest Sep 17, Additional Chief Secretary language, art and culture Umpa Chaudhary said in a statement.

She said Parween Sultana would regale the audience on the inaugural day.

Ustad Jawad Khan, Ustad Mazhar Ali Khan and Pandit Daya Shankar would perform on the next day.

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra would perform Sep 19.

Noted film producer Ramesh Sippy would be the chief guest on the fourth day of the festival. Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt would perform Mohanveena on the occasion.

Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra would give their performance on the last day of the festival.

The fest will conclude Sep 21.
