Mangalore/ Udupi, Sep 24: Spreading waves of awareness on maintaining a healthy heart, Kasturba Hospitals organized a National-level "World Heart Day Run" in Mangalore and Manipal on Sunday, Sep 24.

While over 1000 people participated in the marathon in Mangalore, the run in Manipal had an overwhelming participation of over 5,000 people.

In Mangalore the run was flagged off by deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao.

Vasanthi R Pai of Manipal Group flagged off the marathon at 8 am on from MGM College, Kunjibettu.

Young and old participated in the marathon which traveled nearly 4 kms and reached Kasturba Hospital OPD, Manipal. Free T Shirts were distributed to the participants.

Kamath, who is in his late 70’s, was honoured as the eldest runner of the day.
