Mangalore, Oct 2: Bajpe town which witnessed incidents of violence and communal clashes on Sunday October 1 night is limping back to normalcy, according to police sources.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Bajpe police said that the Sharadotsava procession which was stopped on the way after the incidents of violence on Sunday night was resumed on Monday afternoon and wound up peacefully by 6 in the evening.
Though it was reported that Section 144 was not clamped in the town on Monday morning, police sources said that prohibitory orders were clamped in the town by afternoon. The procession got under way amidst tight police security.
With the completion of the procession, the entire town is under control and no incidents of violence have been reported yet. Though most of the shops and business concerns remained closed on Monday, people were found coming out of their houses on routine work by afternoon.
The police also said that there is nothing to panic about and the function planned at airport will go on unhindered on Tuesday October 3. Security has been beefed up and Section 144 is clamped, and the situation is normal, reassured the police sources to Daijiworld.
