Mangalore, Oct 5: The state government should bear the entire 40-crore expenses to construct the vented dam, said MLA N Yogish Bhat in a memorandum submitted to deputy chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday October 3.

The state government had promised to provide Rs 30 crore for the project and had asked the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to arrange for the remaining 10 crore.

Now, since the MCC is facing a crunch financial situation and has therby failed to arrange the required amount, Yogish Bhat has asked the state government to bear all expenses and has urged an early completion of the project.

The memorandum stated that the drinking water problem in the city is worsening every day, hence the project needs to be completed at the earliest. KUDCEMP has already begun installing 800-km water pipelines.

Bhat also urged the government to release funds to improve the infrastructure in the city.
