Kundapur, Sep 28: “Since the Congress government came to power in the state, people are facing more problems. The department of revenue and food is dead to the people who are really in need of help,” said BJP leader B Kishor Kumar.

He was addressing the gathering here at Press Club, Kundapur, on Sunday September 28.

“When the BJP party was in power, it tried to provide about 9.5 cents of land to the people who were living on government land and who had submitted the application form 94 C. But when the BJP sent the Bill to the Governor for implementation, the cunning Congress convinced the Governor to not pass the bill. If this bill had passed, at least 4,875 people would have got these benefits. Now, the Congress government is going to submit the new 94 CC (3A) application form to the Governor and is promising that the people will get 3 to 5 cents land. But, the promise by the Congress party is the biggest lie,” he added.

“Congress has the power to give away 10 to 20 acres of government land to the rich people, but they are not willing to give five cents to the poor people. Congress is saying that the people who are residing on government land will be provided extra land under Ramaswami and there are various reports that the Congress is trying to evict people who are staying on government land. Yadadi-Matyadi village resident Gulabi Shedthi's 30 cents of land has been de-notified and the revenue department has ordered her to evacuate,” he alleged.

Talking about the Land Conversion Act, Kumar said, “Uncertain business is still going on in the Land Conversion Act Form no 9 and 11. In rural areas, for conversion of land, the City Corporation has already informed that permission is not required and in this regard the government has stated that the Taluk Panchayat will get the guidelines. But after June 2013, providing form no 9 and 11 for land which is converted is not possible. Due to improper guidelines given to the relative departments, without form no 9 and 11 documents, you cannot sell your land. And some of them who could not sell their land have committed suicide.”

“In the eyes of the court, pasture land which is reserved by the government can be used for unofficial use. There are pasture lands in Udupi and Mangalore which are not being used. Let the court take note of these lands and make use of them,” added Kumar.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, he said, “Congress started giving rice at Rs 1 for BPL card holders and gave countless BPL cards to various people. But now, the Government without any proper justification, is cancelling the BPL cards. Due to the government’s two-way decision, poor people are suffering. Congress is playing with the lives of the poor. Within 20 days, the Congress should sort out all the problems and in case if they fail to do so, the BJP will hold serious protests.”

Kundapur BJP party committee president Rajesh Kaveri, corporation member Satish Shetty Kidiyur, party leader A Anantha Krishna Kodgi, and backward class Morcha party committee president Chandra Poojari Asodu were also present during the press meet.
