Mangalore: SP Dayananda – Leading His Forces Admirably Well

Mangalore, Oct 7: From a city burning with violence to a soundless, calm and peaceful city, the curtains seems to have fallen on violence in and around Mangalore. Here prevails a graveyard silence, with the occasional noise of a police jeep making it regular rounds.

Praise is due to DK Superintendent of Police B Dayananda for swiftly managing the region and bringing it under control.

One could find him monitoring and guiding the security operations even during the most violent riots while being in the forefront.  Eversince the communal clashes broke out some 4 days ago, he is has been personally visiting the affected areas, guiding his officers and even extending help to the public.

He is a man who is always in action.  While he handles the law and order of the city quite manfully, he has also managed in building a good rapport with the journos and even the general public.

This week might have been the busiest week for him after he took over as the SP of the district.  His efficiency was quite visible in the way he handled the VIP visits on Tuesday October 3 when the first international flight landed at Bajpe airport.  Prior to that he also to meet the unexpected clashes at Bajpe which rocked not only the town but even entire district.

The way he has been handling the situation and managing his forces, it seems that he might not have even had a good sleep during the entire day.  Despite forgetting sleep, food and even holidays, he looks very active and fresh.  Perhaps he knows well that if he appears to be tired, then, even his subordinates would fail in doing justice to their duty.

He is a man of few words.  But he speaks to the point.  He is quite aware about what is going on in and around and therefore takes utmost care even in taking decisions.  When journalists met him at a press conference and complained about the inadequate number of policemen, he explained them the situation in such a manner that no one had any doubts whatsoever thereafter.  “For me the phrase “adequate” force seems very much abstract.  In these kinds of situations, any amount of policemen is not enough.  If they go to one place marred by violence, mob run havoc in other pockets.  So deployment of police in each area is not possible.  However, security of everybody could well be assured,” he said.

Even the national and other media and people who have come from other state to the city are happy with the way the security measures are taken in the city.  Most of the places are guarded well by the police.  They have been given strict orders to behave in proper manner with all in all possible circumstances.

In a way SP Dayananda is a vanguard leading in the battle field.  He has shown that he is much tougher than he appears or portrayed.
