Dubai, Oct 9: Daiji Dubai Writers’ Forum has invited nominations for its esteemed ‘Daiji Puroskar 2007’, its annual award for an outstanding Konkani writer.  

Any Konkani-speaking individual or organization is entitled to recommend name of a reputed Konkani person of Karnataka origin, who has given substantial contribution towards Konkani language and literature.  Name and contact details of such person along with a detailed summary of his / her literary works (published or non-published), his / her contribution towards Konkani, and other valuable information including five reasons for the recommendation should be sent to Daiji Dubai. 

Last date to receive such nominations will be  November 15, and nominations can be sent by postal mail to: Daiji Puroskar – 2007, P O Box 62499, DubaiUnited Arab Emirates

The award will be handed-over in Dubai during Daiji Dubai’s Eighth annual day celebrations.  The respectable award contains a citation, cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a memento.

For the past 7 years Daiji Puroskar has been bestowed on the following people:

2000 : CGS Taccode
2001 : Sirivont (J. C. Veigas)
2002 : Gladys Rego
2003 : Edwin J. F. D’Souza
2004 : J. S. D’Silva  (Jerry Kulshekar)
2005 : J. B. Moraes
2006 : Victor Rodrigues

Besides this, Daiji Dubai has distributed more than 2.5 lakh Indian Rupees among Konkani Writers and their families who were in financial difficulties.
