Boy set ablaze by army men in Hyderabad dies

Hyderabad, Oct 9 (IANS): An 11-year-old boy, who was set ablaze by unidentified military men, died at a hospital here Thursday, police said.

Sheikh Mustafauddin, who was found with critical burn injuries at garrison area in Mehdipatnam in the heart of the city Wednesday, died at DRDO Apollo Hospital.

The body was shifted to government-run Osmania General Hospital for autopsy. Police have tightened security around the military area to prevent any untoward incident.

The boy, a student of a madarsa, told a magistrate in his dying declaration that some army men poured kerosene over him and set him ablaze.

A resident of Siddiq Nagar, Sheikh was called inside the garrison area by two military men. They allegedly beat him and later set him ablaze. He sustained 90 percent burns and was found lying near the main gate of the garrison.

A case of attempt to murder was registered against unidentified military men at Humayunagar police station. It will now be turned into a murder case.

Police formed a special team to conduct the investigation. Hyderabad police commissioner Mahender Reddy said the guilty will not be spared.

The incident led to tension in the area as people came out on streets to stage a protest against the military personnel. Police used baton charge the protestors to disperse them.

The army authorities have denied involvement of any military man in the incident.

"On investigation, it is found that this allegation is absolutely false and no army personnel is involved in this incident. The army condemns this act. All necessary assistance is being provided to the police authorities to carry out a detailed investigation to arrive at the truth," said a statement from the army authorities.

To hear that aboy of 11 years is set on ablaze.very heartbreaking and sad Event.whoever it is done,he/they did not only a crime on a innocent Boy but also insulted our Indian army.it is insulting even when it was done from a army Person or a civil Person wearing army uniform. That should be condemned and punished. It doesnt matter the victim is belong to a particular Religion. It matters what is done with him and for what reason is.Here I doubt the Boy was misused and to hide it he was ablazed so that he may not reveal it.My heartfelt sympathy to the parents.Even though Army has a good Name ,it is not completely not sure.but my Feeling says they may not go that extent of ablaze a Boy.sure inthe army uniform someone did it.Shame on them and let God ablaze them in hell.poor Boy ,I cant imagine his torture and pain.Mayhis Soul rest with angels.

This is unpardonable crime. May be an act by terrorists to defame Army and turn muslims anti Indian army. Such tacts are common in J&K. May God give the inner power to the parents of departing soul to bear this loss. It is really painful. detailed investigations should be carried out by multiple agencies to bring out the truth.

We should not blame entire Indian Army in this case.
the young boy before death I am sure he will not lie. Might be some bully kinda thing from a soldier and something went wrong.

I do not blame whole Army.

I am proud of Indian Army.....

mean while I also condemn whoever has done this shameful act.
If it is 2 military men, then they should be blamed and punished for this crime.

In the past there had been an incident in Tamil Nadu of an army man shooting a small boy for plucking some fruit inside their premises. As far as I remember no action was taken against the army man for killing that innocent boy. Now this unfortunate incident seems to be a repetition of the past whoever may have committed this horrible crime should not go unpunished.

Very difficult to believe..Proper enquiry should be conducted..Our jawans have shown extreme patience even in Kashmir when stones were hurled at them when they went to help Kashmiris in flood hit area (attacked by separatists people like Yasin Malik)..Then why do they set ablaze 11 years old boy unnecessarily?..Very very difficult to believe..If they are really culprits..then court martial..Dismiss from service..jail..

Everything is difficult to believe, unless it happens to you and your loved ones..Doesnt really matter who did this..but everybody from the majority community is busy defending the army rather than condemning the act.Well nobody feels sorry for the boy ..just because he is from the minority community..Take it or leave it this is the fact..

Hello Mr.Jabbar..Here question of minority or majority doesn't come..Question is how can Army do this act or Why should army do this act.?.You people are always talk about minority ..minority ..minority..pls come out of that ..and join with United India..For your info..there are thousands of Muslims serving in Indian Army..they are not divided as Minority and Majority..AS LONG AS YOU THINK THIS WAY..YOU WILL BE IN WELL..I have clearly given example how Brave Indian Army helped Kashmiris (in your language-Kashmir Muslims,in my language Indians),even though they were attacked by Separatists..WE LOVE INDIAN ARMY..JAI HIND..

Dont show me this crap ..I know what I say.India is my country and I have full respect for Indian Army..I don't need to prove it to you .My question is why didn't you condemn this act and why did you start defending the perpetrators REGARDLESS OF WHOEVER THEY WERE...Whenever some crime is committed by a minority , you start blabbering left and right and here is a 11 year old boy whose dead and you are blaberring "Very difficult to believe..etc etc.." where you there at the spot ? Did you see it from your eyes..?Who cares what you believe.Just because the boy was from minority ??There are black sheeps everywhere regardless of religion. So remove your glasses and watch the world from everybody's perspective.

I can vouch for the fact that Indian Army maintains a very high level of professionalism and deals with indiscipline in a very strict way.
People should not throw accusations against the Army just like some have done here. Let the facts come out. If there are few who have done it, I am sure the Army will discipline them. Need to get the rogue elements out of the Army as well.

If the soldier here has committed the crime he should be punished as per the law. But don't generalize that to the whole army.
